Carrie the Merengue Dancing Dog and her owner José Fuentes

This video clip shows Carrie and her owner José Fuentes in a merengue dance performance to the fittingly entitled song “El baile del perrito” (“The dance of the little dog”) from Wilfredo Vargas“

José Fuentes, an advertising photographer in Santiago, Chile bought the Golden Retriever when she was just 2 months old. Exposed to vibrant Latin music since this early age Carrie demonstrated an instinct for doing showmanship and at the age of 2 began standing and dancing on her own. Noticing the enjoyment the dog derived from dancing to the beat of Latin rhythms Mr. Fuentes trained Carrie to perform different dance routines including merengue, cumbia, and the precision-timed national dance of Chile called the 'cueca’.

The video has been a viral success and today both Carrie and Mr. Fuentes are on tour offering show-stopping performances around the world. Carrie has appeared on both English speaking network shows such as “David Letterman” and “Wendy Williams”, and on Spanish speaking network shows such as “El Gordo y La Flaca” and “Don Francisco Presenta”. Animal Planet named Carrie the “most talented animal in the world”.
